Pune: owner and CEO of Covishield-Maker Serum Institute of India (SII), Adar Poonawalla, dismissed on Saturday the need for “Marketing Authorization Application” to the European Union (EU), said “16 of 27 member countries” and Switzerland (not part of The EU) currently has approved a vaccine based on pre-qualification or emergency use of emergency (EUL).
France on Saturday became the latest UE member country to approve the Covishield for traveling.
Poonawalla told Tii EU countries that had approved the covishield including “Germany and the Netherlands,”.
“Slowly, every EU country accepts covishield.
But Italy and some have not been approved.
We don’t make any application for those who have agreed to it.
Europe, the US, and everyone must admit that this vaccine (covishield) is good quality because it has been approve it, “he said.
16 UE countries are Austria, France, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden, he said.
