Nagpur: Minister of Relef and Rehabilitation of Maharashtra Vijay Wadettiwar on Saturday said that around 17 hectares of agricultural land have been influenced by rain and excessive floods this year, which can be a record for the past 50 years, and the state government takes all the necessary steps.
to provide assistance to those affected.
Speak to reporters at Nagpur.
He said 17 lakh hectares who had been affected were scattered in Marathwada, Maharashtra Utara, Konkan and several vidarbha districts.
“This (area) damage caused by rain, flooding, and cloudburst is a kind of note for the past 50 years, this is only the initial information and I have directed the related district collectors to do Panchnamas (assessment),” he said.
Wadettiwar said compensation until RS 4 Lakh each had been given to their dead relatives, while relief had been provided for damaged homes, and the work was underway to compensate according to farmer norms (state response funds) to farmers for plant damage.
“However, the compensation criteria according to the Norma SDRF have the same for the past six years, namely Rs 6,800 per hectare.
We have asked the central government to change these criteria and increase compensation for greater assistance to farmers,” Wadettiwar said.
