Chennai: With an additional 1,542 Covid-19 cases, Tamil Nadu continues to report a decline in new cases on Friday compared to 1,559 cases on Thursday.
However, 17 districts, including at least three districts bordering Kerala, reported an increase in new cases.
The sharpest increase was seen in Coimbatore, where new cases rose to 231 on Friday compared to 216 on Thursday and 181 on Wednesday.
The Western District is the only district to report more than 200 new cases in the state.
Deputy Coimbatore Director of Health Services Dr.
P Aruna said there district did see an increase in clusters for a week.
“There is little increase in isolated cases,” he said.
“We have intensified supervision and monitoring.
We also encourage more people to take vaccines,” he said.
After coimbatore, the number of new cases was reported from Chennai (162) and Chengalpet (126).
While Chennai reported a decline of 175 cases on Thursday, his neighbor Chengalpet reported an increase from 113 cases on Thursday and 90 cases on Wednesday.
Chengalpet reported the highest increase in case after coimbatore.
Besides Coimbatore, Chennai and Chengalpet, Erode is the only district to report cases in three digits.
