Chennai: New casts saw swimming on Friday, when TN registered 1,985 new Covid-19 cases compared to 1,997 on Thursday.
Cases in at least 17 districts increased marginally, the highlands of the infection curve.
The case reached 25.7 lakh and cumulative victims including 30 deaths recorded on Friday standing at 34,260.
In the end, the state has 20,185 patients undergoing treatment for viral infections.
“Cases have risen and down, but we have consistently increased the number of tests.
From around 1.3 Lakh tests 10 days ago, we now test 1.5 lakh every day.
Even though the absolute numbers rise, the pace of the front is around 1 2%, “said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
More than anything, the state has increased vaccination, he said.
For August, the center has transferred 79 doses of lakh.
“We hope to get additional doses so we can vaccinate at least one crore more people at the end of the month,” he said.
The state has a stock of 11 doses of lakh in government vaccination centers on Friday night after vaccing 2.3 lakh people who took tally doses to 2.3 crores.
The state must provide more than 12 doses of crore to 6 crores over 18 years.
“Buy vaccination from a private hospital through CSR funds also helps the state increase vaccination.
So far, private hospitals have bought 20 doses of lakh and have around 4 lats left,” he said.
Private center vaccination coverage from May is 16.6 lakh.
Coimbatore, who reported 239 new cases – the highest in the country – reported 220 cases on Thursday.
With 2,189 active cases, Western districts remain the only district with more than 2,000 active cases.
Chennai, Erode and Chengalpet reported 189, 178 and 122 cases.
Besides Coimbatore and Erode, Tirunelveli, Namakkal, Tiruvarur and Vellore reported a new case increase than Thursday.
Among the 30 deaths, Chennai reported seven, tirupur and salmut them, Trichy and Kancucheepuram two.
While nine districts reported one death, 24 other districts reported zero death.
