Nashik: The number of schools opened in Nashik District has seen a stable increase as a Covid case decreases.
Since July 19, as many as 395 schools have started physical classes with the addition of 171 schools in the past week in all districts.
Schools were allowed to reopen only after the village level school committee decided.
“As many as 395 schools from 852 schools throughout the Nashik district have been reopened.
In addition, there are 14 schools that have been closed due to the emergence of Covid cases both in schools or villages,” Vaishali Zankar, secondary education officer, Nashik Zilla Parishad.
The village level school committee can allow the reopening only when there are no active cases in the village for at least 30 days.
Schools must also get all the infrastructure that is disanitized, the physical testing measures for children must exist and the Teacher’s RT-PC test has been carried out.
At first, when school was allowed to start functioning by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the number of schools that wanted to reopen was 332.
Of these, 208 had begun to function.
That number rose to 224 in 2.
Then, recently, education officers, Nashik Zilla Parishad had ordered the closing of 14 schools in various Talukas because of the emergence of Covid cases.
Five schools were closed as teaching staff, non-teaching staff or students were found positively, while nine schools were closed because villages reported fresh covid cases.
A total of 12 teachers, one non-teaching staff and three students were tested positively infection.
Schools that now function have around 74,000 students on rolls and participants around 36,000.
Parents must give written approval to send their children to school.
“His presence floated around 45 to 55 percent,” the officer said.
Schools throughout the state have been closed since March 2020 because of Covid’s pandemic.
Many schools begin and continue to offer online education.
But there has been a request for the earliest reopening of the school.
