Surat: Municipal Corporation (SMC) letter will make 18 artificial ponds for the immersion ganesh throughout the city.
Decisions about this were taken on Wednesday by civilian bodies after government direction.
The Ganesh Festival began from September 10 September last year the Ganesh Festival was not celebrated due to restrictions on Covid-19.
However, this year with the situation gradually improving, the state government on Tuesday announced relaxation for Janmashtami and the Ganesh Festival.

Until 2019 around 65,000 large and small ganesha idols have been installed in the city.
Of the 18 ponds, five will be built in the Katargam zone, three of each in the Athwa zone, Varachha and Udhna.
Two pools will appear in Randers and each in the central zone and limbayat.
“The SMC will develop a pool as it is done in the past.
We have started the process to identify the location,” said an official.
After environmental concerns, soaking Ganesha idols and other gods on the river but stopped and worshipers were encouraged to immerse idols in artificial ponds or at home.
