New Delhi: A total of 18,377 appointed FCRA accounts have been opened at New Delhi New Delhi State Bank with NGOs on July 31, 2021 to exclusively receive foreign funds, the home ministry said on Wednesday.
This is in accordance with the provisions of foreign contributions (regulations) of the 2020 amendment law passed last year.
Mos (house) Nityanand Rai, in return on written questions in Rajya Sabha, also told Rajya Sabha that NGOs and associations registered in FCRA have received Rs 15,853 Crore from foreign donors in 2019-20, down from RS 16,525 Crore in 2018 – 19 and RS 16,940 Crore in 2017-18.
There are 22,708 Active NGOs and associations listed under FCRA at this time.
Of this amount, more than 80% have opened an FCRA account appointed in the new SBI Delhi branch.
While FCRA was changed in September last year, requiring all registered NGOs under FCRA to open a special account in the main branch of the new SBI Delhi to receive foreign funds, they were allowed to receive foreign funds in their old FCRA account until June 30, 2021, considering Covid -19 and to ensure a smooth transition to the changed FCRA regime.
Foreign donation receipts in SBI, the main branch of Delhi has only been made only from July 1 and so on, Rai said.
Minister of Junior, in return for different questions, informed that the FCRA license of a total of 21,261 NGOs was extended between 2016 and 2021 (up to August 4).
