Patna: The State Education Department on Tuesday approved 18,899 additional seats at 75 universities after receiving proposals from various universities in this matter.
Education Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said as many as 515 additional seats had been subject to sanctions at four universities of Patna University, including 60 in Patna Science College, 180 in Patna College, 260 in Patna Women’s College and 15 at the College of Art and Crafts.
Similarly, 12,200 additional seats have been approved at 41 colleges of L N Mithila University, 3,448 seats at 11 universities of the University of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur and 4,736 additional seats at the University of JP, Chhapra.
The minister said after the increase in the number of seats, students who graduated plus two (class XII) examinations would not face problems in making themselves accepted at a college in their own country.
Chairs have been upgraded to ensure the desired growth and development of higher education in the state and also to meet the demand of students who continue to increase.
The minister further said that the Chairman of Minister Nith Kumar always emphasized the need to increase the country’s gross registration ratio (GER) in higher education.
The increase in seats in different colleges will run far in enabling the state to reach the national gate target.
