Srinasapur: The nineteen students from the villages in Andhra Pradesh have enrolled at the Kannada-medium government school in Chinnaiiahagipalli Taluk Srinasapur Village in Kolar.
This village is about 2 km from the state border with AP.
According to Cr Ashok, education officers, Kolar Kolar, 19 students were in grade 5 to 8 and had attended school regularly over the past two months.
He said most of Alchepalli’s native in the AP and walked far to school or coming with a bicycle.
Some prefer public transportation to reach schools, Ashok said, adding that he saw the students while carrying out routine official assignments.
He said when he asked students why they preferred Kannada school, they said they found that language was quite easy and could learn more subjects more comfortable in it than in Telugu.
Nagaraj, Principal of Morarji Desai Housing is located in Somayajalalli Village, which is a side by side, saying the infrastructure provided in government schools in Karnataka for years is a big draw.
Mid-day food, free books and uniforms, and good teachers in the border area are the main reasons for many of those who enroll their environment in schools in Karnataka, experts said.
Sg Anandakumar, Principal at Chinnaiiahgaripalli School, said these students mingled with local children and also took an active role in co-curricular activities.
