Mumbai: A 19-year-old colleague from Nalasopara was arrested recently for the 15th theft case on the local train.
Afreen Ansari was ordered by Mumbai Central GRP for stealing cash cards and identity from a woman’s commuter handbag at the Dadar Station (Western Railway).
The police said they identified it based on recordings from CCTV at the station.
He is the second year student.
“Ansari has had a criminal record since he was an underage child.
Twelve of 15 cases against him were recorded when he was underage,” said Mehboob Inamdar, Senior Inspector, Mumbai Central GRP.
“We have tried to advise him before when he was arrested in Kurla,” said Inamdar.
“We told him that he could resolve his graduation and started work to support his family …
but he continued to be involved in evil.” On September 14, a commuter entered the local Borivli from the Dadar Station (WR) at around 16:20 a.m.
when the bag was stolen from his handbag.
It contains Rs 15,000 in addition to ID cards.
The GRP officer examined CCTV footage from the station and enlarged commuter images that tried to climb the same compartment as the complainant.
They saw Ansari.
Patrols were appointed and Ansari was arrested last week from the omelet station.
