VIUDHUNAGAR: Officials have saved two child laborers employed illegally in the fireworks unit near Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu.
A team of officials led by Sivakasi Sub-collector M Birathiviraj conducted inspections at the FireWorks Neerathulingam in Anaiyur on Wednesday.
This unit has a license from the district income officer (DRO) which was suspended recently.
Officials found that two boys, aged 15 and 16 years were employed as child labor in the unit.
Both children are saved and submitted to the Child Welfare Committee.
Sivakasi Sub-Collector M Balingativiraj told TII that the duty of the Division Anti-Child Workers had been based on preventing child workers from being employed in the fireworks unit.
Based on the tip-off of the work of child labor, the TaskForce team checks the fireworks unit.
He said the License of Fire Fire Neerathulingam had been suspended by officials with orders on March 19, 2021.
Without revoking the suspension of the license, the owner runs units illegally by violating the norms.
He said that 35 women and 20 people worked in the unit during inspections.
Employees are seen making crackers by sitting under a tree by breaking the norms.
Because the fireworks unit functions with some violations, the unit is sealed, said sub-collector.
The two sons were saved were studying class XI at school.
NCLP staff will be very monitoring them to ensure that they continue their education and also to ensure that they will not be employed as a child worker in the future, adding Birathiviraj.
Virudhunagar District collector J Meghanath Reddy said officials had filed a complaint to the police Mandarairi to take action against the owner of the fireworks, Neathulingam and Foreman Kagupasamy.
Collectors warn that strict action will be taken against people who employ child labor.
He said if people find incidents where children are employed as child laborers, they can contact ‘1098’ to forward the information.
