Lucknow: Two Defense Companies, Delta Combat Systems Limited and Defense Werywin Private Limited, will invest RS 215 Crore to establish their small weapons manufacturing unit at Jhansi’s knot from the upcoming defense corridor in the state.
Delta Combat Systems Limited has been allocated 15 hectares of land for plants at a cost of Rs 150 Crore.
The company will produce cartridges for assault rifles, snipers and insas, CQB carbines and other weapons used by the armed forces.
Closing Quarter Battle (CQB) Carbines can reach the target in the range of 200 meters, while the Insas rifle, which is made on the AK-47 line, has been widely used in the Cargil War.
“The next defense corridor will not only host a company that produces missiles and drones, but also companies that make cartridges used by security forces, frames for polymer frame guns and safety equipment,” said a government spokesman.
29 companies have submitted their proposal to the government to establish a factory in the Aligarh node, and 19 of them have been allocated 55.4 hectares of land.
Investment by these companies is estimated to be around RS 1,245.75 Crore, official said.
“In addition, 11 companies have sent a proposal to establish a company in Lucknow, six in Jhansi and eight in the Kanpur node from the Defense Corridor,” he added.
