Mumbai: Mumbai police on Monday arrested two people from West Bengal Siliguri for allegedly deceiving Mumbai-based entrepreneurs from Rs 2 Crore.
Senior Police Officer Sudarshan Patil from the Tilak Mumbai police station said, “A Mumbai police team arrested two people for allegedly deceiving a Mumbai businessman in the real estate business of Rs 2 Crore.
Mumbai police subdued them with the help of Metropolitan Police of Siliguri today.” According to Police, both defendants – Aswin Patel and Ram Kumar – tracked and arrested from the hotel based in Siliguri.
Sudarshan Patil led the four-member police team to accuse the defendant.
He said that the two defendants had planned to run the racket and have lured another man named Raj Gopal Somani to invest in a fraud company that received fortunately.
Therefore, Somani had given Rs 2 Crore to the defendant.
However, Somani after he failed to contact company officials found that the office was run by fraudulent companies.
He filed a complaint of the police on July 19 and the police after the investigation arrested six people from Mumbai.
However, two kingpins (Patel and Kumar) still fled.
Patil said that the police tracked their cellphones and found that the duo went to the letter, Rajasthan and Kolkata and went to Siliguri.
The police arrested them from their hotel.
Investigations more about this problem are ongoing.
