Srinagar: Two local terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State J & K (ISJK) were killed in a meeting at Eidgah in downtown Srinagar on Friday morning, police said.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar said the terrorist who was killed, which was identified as Ahmed Sofi and Bilal Ahmed, came from the Natipora area in the city.
They joined terror rating on December 14 last year.
Kumar said the duo was involved in three crimes carried out last month and the police traced their movements.
“We took the lead about them on Thursday after the Joint CRPF team and the police exploded from the Eidgah area.
We begged them to give up but they refused.
Following their rejection of the meeting took place where both were killed,” he said, adding that the two were previously affiliated with Lashkar -E-Taiba and then turn to ISJK.
In a shootout, two crpf men were also injured.
They were hospitalized where their condition was stated.
Kumar said with this latest operation, 78 terrorists have been killed this year so far in various meetings.
