Coimbatore: Two people died in the district on Monday as many road accidents involving autorickshaws.
In one of the incidents, a 60-year-old female pedestrian was killed after the autorickshaw of the item dropped it on Jalan Kovaipur-Sundakkamuthur.
Police Traffic Investigation Wing identified the deceased as Vasantha Kumari, a resident of Kamatchi Nagar in Kovaipur.
The police said I was 28 years old, I was Rashid, a native of Kannur Regency in Kerala, riding the items of autorickshaw with a rash and in a negligent way when the vehicle hit the woman.
He was taken to a government hospital in Sundakkamuthur, where the doctor said he was taken dead.
The police have registered a case against Rashid and further investigation.
In another accident, K Munusamy 37 years old, a resident of Karupparayanpalayam near Mayilampatti, was killed after the autorickshaw item crashed into his bicycle, which was on the wrong side, in Serhaampalayam Road in Thottipallayam on Monday.
