2 killed in fresh communal violence in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Two Hindu men have been killed in fresh communal violence in Bangladesh, said Police officials on Saturday, taking the sixth death toll from recent riots in this country.
Protests began on Wednesday after the footage appeared on social media “blasphemy incidents” during the celebration at the Puja Durga Pavilion in Cumilla, bordering Chandpur and about 100 km from Dhaka.
Police said the last violence took place in the southern city of Begumanj from Noakhali Regency when hundreds of Muslims formed a street procession after Friday prayers on the last day of Durga Puja.
More than 200 protesters attacked the temple where members of the Hindu community were preparing to carry out the last ritual of the 10-day festival, the head of the local police station, Shah Imran said.
The attackers defeated and stabbed the death of the Temple Committee Executive Member, he said.
On Saturday morning, other Hindu male bodies were found near the pool, said Shahidul Islamic District Police Chief.
“Two men have died since the attack yesterday.
We work to find the culprit,” he added.
Anti-Hindu violence spread to more than a dozen districts in Bangladesh this week after recording blasphemen incidents appeared online.
At least four people were killed on Wednesday when police fired a shot at the crowd of around 500 people who attacked Hindu temples in Hajiganj, one of several cities affected by interference.
The right-wing fremi wing Shashontantra Andolon on Saturday took the procession in downtown Dhaka against the image of the viral social media from Cumilla, said it was insulting the majority of the country’s Muslims.
The local authorities said they had deployed extra security to control further riots.
Paramilitary border guards Bangladesh (BGB) has expanded Vigil from 22 to 34 of 64 administrative districts.
The Batalyon of the Anti-Crime Elite Fast Action (RAB) said it hoped to arrest several major actors sporadic violence that occurred in the last three days.
“So far around 90 people have been arrested.
We will also hunt down all the masterminds,” said Minister of Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
Voicing optimism over the probe, Kamal said “We expect the development of investigations in the next or two days”.
At least 150 Hindus hurt across the country, said the leader of the Gobinda Chandra Three Community, and at least 80 emergency temples had been attacked.
Authorities did not confirm the numbers.
On Friday, violence broke out in the capital Dhaka and Chittagong, pushing the police to fire tear gas and rubber bullets on thousands of Muslim protesters who threw bricks.
Highspeed mobile internet services are turned off in clear efforts to prevent violence spread.
PM Sheikh Hasina met with the leaders of the Hindu community on Thursday and promised decisive action.
“The incident in Cumilla is being investigated thoroughly.
Nothing will be spared.
No matter which religion they have.
They will be hunted and punished,” he said.
The government and law enforcement agencies illustrate incidents as “planned” with the aim of not demanding the country.
The celebration of Puja Durga, is considered the largest festival of the Hindu minority community in Bangladesh, concluded without traditional Covid procession and vandalism.
Minority Hindu communities form around 10% of 169 million populations.
