Chennai: More than two lakh people have left Chennai on the government bus for their original places to celebrate Diwali.
The State Transportation Department has operated close to 4,785 buses in the last 48 hours to transport these people, according to official releases on Tuesday.
3,500 other strange buses are scheduled to depart from Chennai to various parts of the country on Wednesday.
As many as 1.05 lakh people have booked their bus tickets so far in this season, the broadcast said.
The state-owned transportation company has obtained Rs 5.4 Crore through bookings.
A total of 12 bookcon counters have been established in various locations in the city.
People who want to order tickets on TNSTC and Setc buses can enter the official website (www.tnstc.in) or use cellular applications such as redbus or paytm.
