Tuticorin: Two migrant workers from Jharkhand worked in a trench for the construction of storm waterways for Thooothukudi Corporation died when a compound wall of a house collapsed and bury them lived on Thursday night at Tamil Nadu.
The victims were identified as Bagrad Ali, 21 and Amit, 24.
Their migrant colleagues from the country, who were also trapped, were saved and treated.
The initial investigation revealed that the team was working to build storm waterways for the past three years to avoid the inundation of state bank colonies and regions side by side in the city.
On Wednesday, Earthmover dug trenches near the compound wall of a company into the export of sea products at Sundaravel Puram when the tragedy hit.
The deceased is among seven workers who are preparing steel stems and put it for concrete to pour it on it to build stormwater waterways.
Police sources say that land under loose compound walls and gave up, resulting in the wall of landing over men and burying them alive.
Bagrad and Amit died in place.
Five other workers were saved from debris by fire service personnel and rescue with public assistance and were rushed to The Thoothukudi Medical College and hospital for treatment.
Their condition is stable.
North police Thooothukudi said that the wall was not given support to prevent such an accident.
On the other hand, workers do not wear protective equipment such as helmets or gloves, they said.
