Madurai: Priest non-Brahmana P Maharajan and Arunkumar on Monday joined as Archakar from two satellite temples from Sundarswarar Madurai Sri Meenakshi Temple.
They have been appointed under the Annaivarum Archagar Agalam program from the Tamil Nadu government.
Commissioner with Temple K Chelladurai said that Maharajan has been appointed as a priest of Amur Ayyam Pozhil Easwarar temple in Block Melur and Arun Kumar as the pastor of the Temple of Karuppasamy Arulmigu Theradi.
They are among 29 students who have undergone training conducted at the Temple of Sri Meenakshi Amman between 2007 and 2008 by the Department of Religious and Secure Hindu Endowments.
The duo gained the highest score in the examination carried out by the temple.
