Madurai: Two men, who are patients’ relatives, were arrested for attacking doctors and misused other staff members of a private multi-special hospital in Madurai on Wednesday.
The arrest has been identified as T Purushotaman (31) and V Palanikumar (47) of Thathaneri.
Around 4 in the morning on Wednesday, Palanikumar admitted his son to the emergency ward in the hospital with an injury.
Doctors suggest surgery.
Palanikumar and Purushothaman harassed the verbal hospital staff, including doctors and nurses, and disturbed them from providing care.
They attacked and threatened a doctor.
The police said the two men were drunk.
Based on the complaint proposed by the hospital authority, Police Mattouthavani registered the case below 294 (b), 323, 506 (ii) IPC R / W 48 (3) of the protection law of Tamil Nadu Hospital and arrested them.
The hospital authority said legal action began with patient relatives to ensure that the incident of attack on doctors did not happen again in the future.
In December 2019, a PG doctor was attacked at the Rajaji Government Hospital in Madurai by patient relatives.
Legal action was taken towards patient relatives after protest by a doctor.
