Rajkot: Branch of Local Crime Police Kutch Timur on Sunday arrested two to sell fake gold bars to traders from Telangana and took Rs 25 lakh from him.
According to the police, the two defendants Liaqut Ali alias Ali Node and Alisha Sheikh were picked up from the Ganganagar area in Anjar.
During interrogation, the Duo admitted that they were with Suleiman Sheikh’s accomplices they had been recognized by people.
They also told the police that they had hidden the fake gold bar at Sheikh’s house in Madrinagar in Anjar.
When searching at home, the police found the original gold bar worth Rs 9.8 lakh and 37 fake gold bars weighing 100 grams.
The ‘Play’ currency note looked like all denominations were also found along with cash 4.5 lakh and four cellphones.
Further investigation reveals that the three are used to make payments by placing empty currency and paper records in clumps along with some real notes.
The defendant used to also captivate traders in buying a fake gold bar as the original by offering discounts of up to 40%.
Police have now appealed to traders and other people who might be cheated by gangs to advance and filed complaints against them.
