Jaipur: Two Panchayats, Barar and Weir, have become the fourth and fifth in Rajsamand District to choose the elimination of a liquor store in the village on Saturday.
Voting for removal occurred under the relevant sections of Rajasthan excise acting after the village women’s movement since 2015.
The voting began at 8am to 5pm at 64% chose most of the women sealing the fate of liquor in it village.
The minimum selection required is 51% of a total of 5,632 voters.
The level of enthusiasm in both Panchayats was far high rather than the assembly and legislative polls when the woman came out in a horde of singing and dancing late at night.
Sarpanch from Barar, Pankaja Singh along with a group of women ran from one house to another who called a woman to choose all day.
“Our village man is addicted to high amounts of liquor is the reason why women and children in every second household suffer from domestic violence.
Addiction has increased poverty in the village when people sell ornaments, land and articles moving to pay liquor , “said Singh, who remembered that in 2015 for the first time he gave a representation to the transfer of stores.
Pre-conditions for polls are 20% of voters must agree to choose by signing the petition.
In 2017, the movement received a setback when the village did not qualify for voting because less than 20% of the villagers agreed to choose a voice.
The campaign rose again in 2019 and the village qualified for voting in 2021 along with Wier.
Arvind Poswal, Rajsamand District collector, said, “The application for voting was seriously chased by us even after failure in the first attempt.
I gave credit to the determination of women who had never given up for the past five years.” He told him that this was a village Fourth in the district and assured that if the office will find such an application it will immediately run.
Pooja Bharti Chhabra, National President of Sharabbandi Andolan, the provision of the elimination of a liquor store in Pancayat and Ward Wise was injected in 2013 in Rajasthan excise acting by the Government Gehlot.
“So far, seven Panchayats have carried out special rights including five in Pancahayats, Kachabali, Mandawar, Thaneta, Barar and Wier (Rajsamand), Rozda Gram Panchayat in Jaipur Rural and Foga Gram Panchayat in Churu,” Chhabra said.
