Ludhiana: Three inmates were injured after two rival groups came to blow in the middle prison Ludhiana, Tajpur Road, on Wednesday afternoon.
What was injured was given treatment at the prison hospital.
The Prison Authority had to call additional police personnel from Division 7 to handle the situation.
Injured has been identified as Ankit, Lakhan and King.
They returned to their barracks after attending court hearing through video conferencing when groups of rivals attacked them.
The prison staff tried to save them, but it didn’t work.
Alleged that the inmates also threw bricks with each other.
However, prison officials did not confirm the details.
Division 7 Police Station Sho Sub-Inspector Satbir Singh said, “The Prison Authority asked police forces when two groups of inmates fighting.
This situation is controlled and injured given treatment at the prison hospital.
We have not received a written complaint from the Prison Authority to submit FIR.” Ludhiana Jail Inspector Balkar Singh said he was on leave and did not realize the incident.
There are no other prison officials available for comments.
