MEERUT: Two men, both of them stopped from the village of Salahpur in the Nakud Saharanpur area, lost their lives after being trapped in a raid at the Vaishno Devi temple on Saturdays that have been believed to have claimed at least 12 lives.
The men were identified as Dharamveer Kori, 35, who run mechanical stores.
He was accompanied by his friend, 30 years old Vineet Kumar.
“Dharamveer is a very religious person who used to visit at least two temples in Himalayas every year for the past 15 years.
He visited Vaishno Devi’s Temple regularly.
We never thought this visit would be the last,” said his brother, Udaybir Kori.
Biraman Singh, Vineet’s father, said that his son worked as an engineer in a private company in Dehradun.
“He came to the house for a vacation and wanted to go to the temple to look for blessings from the god before the new year.” Dharamveer survived by his wife and two sons aged seven and two nine years.
Vineet is not married.
Singh, Dharamveer’s nephew, said, “My uncle went to visit the temple along with four other friends.
Apart from Vineet, one other person, Pradeep Singh, has accompanied them while the other two have left Ambala.
