New Delhi: Two prisoners of Tihar Prison were injured after clashes broke out among them after the police had registered efforts to kill cases, officials said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday night.
According to prison officials, the fight broke out between two to three inmates on Saturday night.
The inmates suffered injuries after they attacked each other with sharp-eyed objects.
The incident occurred in prison number 3, they said.
None of the prisoners were seriously injured.
Two of them were sent to the hospital.
They returned to prison after treatment, said a senior prison official.
Police received information from Deen Dayal Hospital Upadhyay on Saturday that an undertrial prisoner named Sumit Dutt, which was submitted at Ward Number 2 from Jail Jail 3, had been treated at their facility, official said.
Injured prisoners told the police that he was attacked with a sharp weapon in prison by fellow prisoners Kalu and if the if the senior police officer said.
Dutt received an injury on his thigh, his stomach and ribs.
He was referred to the Safdarjung Hospital.
Brijesh inmates alias Kalu also received a stab injury on his thigh and was also referred to the same hospital, the officer said.
Cases under Section 307 (efforts to murder) and 324 (voluntarily cause injuries to weapons or dangerous facilities) and 34 (general intentions) from the Criminal Code have been registered, the police added.
