New Delhi: Two men have been arrested for allegedly robbing Jawan Army in the Colony Friends area of New Delhi, police said on Sunday.
Both defendants – Rajiv Kumar (28) and Umesh (22) – were residents of Uttar Pradesh, they said.
The police received information on April 13 about robbery.
Tawar Pengawan Raj Singh, a Jawan in the Indian Army, said he was on his way to Dappar in Punjab from his village Gondi in Rajasthan by bus.
He told the police that he reached the bus terminal at Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi on April 13.
While waiting for the bus to the Kashmeri gate, a car stopped in front of him.
Two passengers have sat in the back seat, police said.
The driver said he would drop it at the Kashmir gate after the complainant sat in the car, they said.
The driver took the car to an isolated room, beating Singh, took his bag containing 10 7.6mm cartridges of 7.6mm pistols, uniforms and ID cards and escaped from the word senior police officer.
“The police analyzed CCTV footage from the area and identified the number of cars.
RAID was carried out in Yakubpur Village in Noida and Rajiv was arrested.
In his disclosure, Umesh was also arrested,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Rp.
Meena said.
Nine Live cartridges were restored from their ownership, added the police.
