New Delhi: A 34-year-old man desired in an effort to kill the Delhi police chief case was arrested from Jaipur in Rajasthan, officials said on Friday.
Police said his colleague was also arrested from Nihal Vihar here.
The defendant has been identified as Jitender and Jaikishan Verma (25), a resident of Jwalapuri, Delhi, they said, adding that Rs 50,000 gift was stated in Jitender’s arrest.
The police received information that Jitender, desired in two cases of efforts to kill and avoid his arrest since December 2020, was somewhere in the Khatik Mohalla, Transport Nagar, said a senior police officer.
“Then, it was found that Jitender would come to transport Flyover Nagar, after the trap arranged and on Tuesday around 3pm, he was arrested,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (specific cells) said Pramod Singh Kushwaha.
In the example, Verma of his colleague, who was also desirable in the two cases, was arrested, said DCP.
On December 11 last year, Jitender, along with his colleague Jaikishan, Bhim, Vinod, and others, opened fire on Gautam and Arjun because he had old hostility with them.
When Arjun’s friend came to save him, he was also stabbed by the defendant, police said.
Then, on January 5, Jitender, along with Jaiskishan and the other three including his girlfriend, in a hurry to drive a car near the corner market in Malviya Nagar, they said.
When the Ramesh police chief, who was in charge of patrolling, signaled them to stop, Jitender hit him with his car and tried to accelerate from that place, police said.
In the incident, Ramesh’s finger was stuck in the hood of the car and he was dragged up to 1 kilometer by vehicle.
After that, they escaped from that place, they said.
Ramesh suffered several injuries in the incident, after the case under various parts, including an attempt to murder, registered at the Malviya Nagar police station, added the police.
