2 years covid: why some countries show a higher number

New Delhi: It’s been two years since the first Covid-19 case was recorded in India.
Through this period – and three waves of pandemics – Maharashtra and most southern states consistently record more cases and deaths than other countries in the country, especially those in the north.
While the higher number of two years can give the impression that these countries have become the worst hit by Covid, their better reporting system is likely to truly save more lives, a leading expert said.
Maharashtra, where 9.3% of the Indian population is located so far contributing 18.8% of cases reported in the country and 28.9% of all Covid deaths.
Kerala, with only 2.8% of the Indian population, has reported 14.3% of all cases and 10.6% death.
In the Stark Contrast, the state of Uttar Pradesh is the most densely population of the country, home to 16.5% of Indians, has recorded only 4.9% of all cases and 4.7% of deaths.
Likewise, almost 2% of Covid cases in India and 2.5% of deaths have so far been recorded at Bihar, which accounts for 8.6% of the country’s population.
“People in all parts of India are equally vulnerable to Coronavirus.
Although there can be some differences in the infection rate during a short period, such a gap for two years has only one explanation – Maharashtra and the southern countries do a much better job To detect and report cases than others, “said Dr.
Shahid.” Jameel, Virology and former Scientific Advisory Group Head to the Indian SARS-COV-2 Genomic Consortion (Insacog).
“If you do not test, and test properly, you don’t Will find cases and provide institutional care, “he added.
Detection of Covid cases that are not proportional low and reporting of deaths is not limited to and Bihar.
This trend is spread in North and Central India, with exceptions such as Delhi.
For example, Bengal (7.5% of The Indian population) has reported 4.9% of cases and 4.2% of Covid deaths in this country.
Madhya Pradesh is more inclined.
With 6% of the stock in the population, NEG Ara has contributed 2.3% of all cases in the country and 2.1% of all deaths.
Gujarat is home to 5% of the Indian population but has recorded 2.8% of cases and 2.1% of all deaths.
Likewise, Rajasthan (5.7% population) accounted for 2.9% of cases and 1.9% of deaths.
Delhi, with the dominant urban population, is an exception to this trend.
Accounting 1.4% of the country’s population, capital has reported 4.5% of cases and 5.2% of Covid deaths in India.
Interesting punjab case.
The state, with 2.3% of the Indian population, has a higher proportion of death (3.5%) while infection is detected low (2.3%).
While fewer cases and death looks good on paper, is the country paying the price for low detection? “Yes”, said Dr Jameel.
“Consistently noting a low number of cases is not a good governance batch.
A better reporting system in Maharashtra and South has prevented death through early detection.
In many northern states, the proportion of covid death which is much higher the possibility of being reported.”
