New Delhi: On July 25, 20.32 Lakh tests and 7.08 lakh hospital admissions related to Covid-19 were ratified under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), the government told parliament on Tuesday .
Public health as a subject of the country, the response to the Covid-19 pandemic is mainly directed by the state government, the Minister of State for Bharati Pravin Pawar said in a written reply to the question at Rajya Sabha.
National Health Authority (NHA) has provided the support needed to the countries and union areas to ensure Covid-19 testing and treatment for all benefits that meet the requirements under the AB-PMJAY.
When a pandemic breaks, the existing package is used to provide care, said pawar.
Then, the special package for Covid-19 treatment and testing was introduced, he added.
Many states decide to make covid testing and free care for all residents.
While some use the AB-PMJay ecosystem, including the IT NHA platform, the other makes it free.
Therefore, Covid-19 treatment has been included in a public package and a special package for diseases under AB-PMJAY.
“On July 25, 2021, 20.32 Testing related Lakh Covid and 7.08 Lakh Covid, related hospital admissions have been authorized under the scheme,” said Pawar.
