20 Bangladesh students were sentenced to death for brutal murder

Dhaka: Bangladesh sentenced 20 students to death on Wednesday for the brutal murder of 2019 from a young man who criticized the government on social media.
Battery Battery Abrar Fahad, 21, was found in his university dormitory hours after he wrote Facebook post Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to sign an agreement to share water with India.
He was beaten with the kricket bats and other blunt objects for six hours by 25 fellow students who were members of the Ruling Awami League students, Chhatra League (BCL) Bangladesh (BCL).
“I am happy with the verdict,” Fahad’s father, Barkat Ullah told reporters outside the court after the verdict.
“I hope the penalty will soon be presented.” Attorney Abdullah Abu told AFP that the five remaining perpetrators were sentenced to life imprisonment.
All the sentences of hand death were between 20 and 22 years old and attended the Engineering University and Technology of Elite Bangladesh with Fahad.
Three of the defendants were still large while the rest were in the courtroom.
A lawyer for the defendants said the sentence would be appealed.
– ‘The highest punishment’ – Fahad has installed a post on Facebook which is a viral clock before his death.
In it, he criticized the government because signing an agreement that allowed India to take water from the river located at the second limit of sharing countries.
Fahad has been seen in the recording of the leaky CCTV which became a viral on social media running to a dormitory with several BCL activists.
About six hours later, his body was carried out by students and put on the ground.
BCL has gained fame in recent years after several members were accused of killing, violence and extortion.
In 2018, its members were allegedly using violence to suppress the protests of the main anti-government students.
The protest was triggered by anger over the safety of the road after a student was killed by a bus fast.
The protesters called for attackers to be punished hard and for BCL to be banned.
Hasina swore immediately after the attack that the killer would get a “highest punishment”.
Death sentence is common in Bangladesh with hundreds of people in the deaths.
All executions are by hanging, the legacy of the British colonial era.
In August, a court sentenced six Islamic extremists to death because of the brutal murder of two gay rights activists.
