Pune: At least 20 people are feared to be trapped in landslides in two locations in Patan Tehsil Satara Regency Western Maharashtra which has been beaten by Rain, police said on Friday.
Landslides took place in Ambehar and Mirgaon villages at night, burying a total of eight houses, said Ajay Kumar Bansal, police supervisor, Rural Satara.
The incident took part in a large landslide in the Raigad coastal district on Thursday night.
Some people have been saved, said SP.
“In Ambeghar, 13 or 14 people in four feared houses were trapped, while in Mirgaon, three houses were affected by 8 to 10 people inside,” Bansal said, added that the rescue work was taking place.
Because of the rain continuously, the streets that lead to two villages are blocked or flooded, making it difficult to carry heavy machines for rescue work, SP said.
