New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Thursday said that he would declare 20 markets as free plastic free from his jurisdiction.
The decision was taken during the first meeting of the ‘city level task unit’ on plastic waste management regulations, 2016 and removing single plastic (soup), held under the leadership of the SDMC commissioner.
During the meeting, decisions such as enforcement and monitoring plastic prohibitions of less than 50 microns, IEC activities in active collaboration with RWAS, merchant associations, industry associations, etc.
By conducting a mass awareness campaign, workshops, training, posters, training are also taken.
‘City Level Task Unit’ was formed by SDMC on June 18, 2021.
The meeting was attended by members of the task force including District Judges (South, New Delhi, South West, Central, North, District), Deputy Commissioner (center, south, west, Najafgarh Zona), ITC WOW NGO, RWA-DEFENSE COLONY AND NAVJEEVAN VIHAR, representatives of the Nehru Place Traders Association, representatives of the Okhla Industrial Region Association, Membership Management Committee of the Okhla Industrial Estate Association, Engineer-Itasar (SDMC) and senior SDMC officials.
