Jaipur: At least 200 Dhabas (restaurant) on Jalan Raya Jaipur-Delhi was found to work in collusion with a gang involved in diesel theft, milk forgery and bootleging, revealed a report entitled ‘Highway Operation’ prepared by Jaipur Police (rural).
This operation was carried out about a year ago and every alleged Dhaba was examined carefully.
Some restaurants were found to work as shelters for gangs.
Jaipur Rural SP Sharma Dutt Sharma said the police had learned about gangs stealing chemicals, diesel and vegetable oil from tankers who paused in Dhabas.
“Elsewhere, we found the truck driver working in Cahayas with a gang and allowed Ghee (butter) stolen from their tankers,” he said.
One particular crime aroused a special interest when the Shahpura police station learned that several defendants stole crude oil from the Indian oil corporate pipe (IOC).
According to Sharma, all these criminal incidents have a common trace on the national highway.
“We set out to find what happened in this Dhabas.
What we found surprisingly, illegal activities have become the mainstay of their business while serving food is just a secondary priority.
Especially because illegal businesses get windfall fortune for them,” Sharma said.
Since 2019 and so on, a total of 1,643 accused of being arrested for Bootleging, 154 for drug smuggling, 176 to steal oil, diesel, milk, etc.
“The main goal is to clear the highway the criminals who have flooded the long stretch cut many cities,” Sharma said.
Interestingly, the police found that many complaints relating to the tanker from carrying crude oil, milk, and chemicals, had turned into the main criminal company where the gang stole from the tank and mixed it with goods below the standard.
On June 6 last year, the police found that the gang had stolen Ghee from a branded company truck.
The next investigation revealed that the defendant had mixed Ghee branded with chemicals and tried to sell it to local shops.
