2,000 employees on the task of polls die from covid

Lucknow: Going with a compensation rate, revealed by Uttar Pradesh, more than 2,000 employees of the state government, half of them, died after arresting Covid while on duty during the Pancrayat poll.

Under the previous rules, compensation can only be given if the employee dies on the task or during the trip to and from the place of duty, which is calculated in one day or a maximum of two, depending on how far the employees travel.
The upward cabinet in June approved financial assistance, including those who surrendered to Covid-19 in 30 days from the poll duty, a spokesman had said.
The cabinet also increased the number of relief from Rs 15 Lakh to Rs 30 Lakh.
