2012 Olympic Torchbearer works hard at Tea Garden for 167 / day

Dibrugarh: When he ran through the Nottinghamshire road with an Olympic torch in his hand in 2012, Pinky Karmar from Dibrugarh Regency Assam would think his dream had just begun.
The 17-year-old has returned from the opening ceremony of the London Olympics to welcome to have a medal winner.

Nine years and two Olympics later, Pinky – now 26 – works as a daily wage leaf achievement in Borbohoroah Tea Estate, produces Rs 167 a day.
The girl who used to run a sports program for Development (S4D) UNICEF at her school and taught around 40 women who did not slip every night now were poor family bread seekers.
Besides his retired father, he must look after the younger brother and two sisters.
“I have a big dream, but now there is nothing left to be expected.
After my mother’s death, I have to get out of college because of acute financial difficulties and start working as a laborer in Tea Garden,” said Pinky.
When he had been chosen to bring a torch at the London Olympics, Pinky was in grade 10.
He was picked to represent India in recognition of his community work under the International Inspiration Program, the official theme of Legacy of London 2012.
When Pinky was pursuing a BA in Dibru College That life gets worse.
He regretted that the girl who was toast the community “no longer important” for anyone.
“I can’t advise anyone.
Everyone asked me what I had achieved in life.
The government and UNICEF have left me,” he said.
Pinky claims he has been promised “remuneration” to represent India in Torch Relay.
“Until now, I have not received anything.
The truth is that the daughter of a worker is still a laborer.”
