New Delhi: Delhi Assembly Committee on Peace and Harmoni on Friday called representatives from India Facebook to testify on November 2 for 2020 Riots in the national capital.
In a letter, the committee said that it would focus on the role of social media giants to limit false and evil messages that could cause disharmony in the community.
“Because Facebook has lakh users at NCT from Delhi, the committee has decided to hear the view of Indian Facebook representatives.” This Constyutued Committee after Riot Delhi northeast occurred between the protesters of anti-citizenship ACT (CAA) amendments.
The time of chaos coincided with the former Maiden President of the US President Donald Trump to India.
Further letters said that various people including journalists, former bureaucrats and community leaders had emerged before the committee offered their evidence and advice.
“The Committee has observed and argues that social media has a very important role in limiting the spread of false messages, provocative and evil, which can provide fans of violence and disharmony.” The Committee has requested Facebook India to send competent senior representatives, which are very clever with this problem but at the same time asking social media companies to limit the number of representatives to a minimum because of the Covid-19 situation.
“The failure to send representatives will lead to process initiates for violations of violations of privileges / insults to the Assembly,” the letter was added.
More than 50 people were killed in this riot, one third of the minority community.
