Chennai: Atleast 21 Police personnel have tested positive Covid-19 on Monday at the larger police limit of Chennai.
Additional commissioners and two commissioners are among those infected.
In the past week, at least 70 police personnel have been infected in the city.
In all countries, more than 300 police have been tested positively so far, including six IPS officers.
With a surge in cases throughout the city, the larger Chennai police have been ordered to strictly follow standard operating procedures while dealing with complainants and accused.
Police sources say that 95 percent of police personnel throughout the country have taken their first dose of vaccines and 87 percent have taken their second dose.
The booster dose is being arranged for those who have taken the second dose.
In the hard action during night hours on Monday in the city, 226 registered cases and 517 vehicles were confiscated for violating the Covid protocol.
