The Twenty20 series of five Australian matches against Sri Lanka will be played in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne after the cricket board (CA) moved the match from Queensland and South Australia to reduce the journey as Covid-19 cases increased.
Ground Cricket Sydney will play the first two T20s, followed by Manuka Oval, with Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the last two matches.
The serial, which began on February 11, previously included Brisbane, Adelaide and Gold Coast as another place.
“CA will continue to prioritize the health and safety of all players, suitable with officials, staff, fans, broadcasers, and a wider community because we navigate the challenges presented by Covid-19,” said Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Hockley.
“We know that fans in South Australia and Queensland will be disappointed to skip this match and we are still committed to bringing international cricket to all countries.” On Wednesday, Australia’s limited New Zealand tour was postponed without limits due to uncertainty when visitors would be able to return home because of the Covid-19 protocol.
