21cm rain on the night flooded several areas in Chennai

Chennai: Unrelenting rain since Saturday night flooded many parts of Chennai, evoking memories of the 2015 flood.
The city recorded the rainfall of 21.53 cm, on Saturday night; On Nov.
16, 2015, the city received 24.6cm rainfall.
Rain dropped several regions and stopped train services, while riders and pedestrians faced a difficult time because some interior roads were flooded.
Minister of Man Chief M K Stalin announced a vacation for government offices in Chennai on Monday and asked private organizations to allow staff to work from home.
He also urged PM Narendra Modi to provide funds for flood assistance.
PM convinced Stalin that sufficient funds will be allocated.
Chennai is likely to experience heavy rain until it is very heavy for the next two days due to the upper air circulation and low pressure areas, the regional meteorological department says in its estimates.
Velachery, T Nagar, Korattur, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and Kodungairy are the worst affected due to inundation.
Six subways are closed due to puddles.
After the rain is unrelenting, taxis, and the autorickshaw rates are fired because only 10% of the government bus are operated.
Meanwhile, corporations say better preparedness, including advanced machines to pump water, help reduce loss of life and property.
