Pune: Twenty-two new courses at the Postgraduate Level, Postgraduate, Diploma and Certificates have lined up by Savitribai Phule Pune University in universities and the Department of affiliated in the academic year 2021-22.
Beyond, seeing the way the country has adopted online education, the university plans to offer more than 400 certificate courses in collaboration with various institutions on its own platform called a plus title that will be an open online module for all students inside and outside the university , What’s more, the university also maps these courses to find out which of those who can be converted into proper courses for credit transfers so students can take credit from this platform after completing their courses.
These courses are intended to meet industrial specific demand and make students acquire skills along with the learning outcomes needed from each course, Nitin Karmalkar, representatives of the University Chancellor, said.
A large number of courses, nine, are planned in the Faculty of Science and Technology-Engineering with a focus on design, machine learning, Internet of Things at the undergraduate level.
At the master level, robotics and automation, wireless communication technology and sensor system are in essence.
“In addition to a new course, our platform named Degree Plus will provide more than 400 certificate courses.
These are all skills courses, to some extent, will help make students work.
We have created these courses or take onboard courses provided by various Different agents like Amazon or Coursera.
Some will cost no matter.
Certification will be provided by the University.
There will be assistance.
Maybe this is the first state university to offer such a platform, “Karmalkar said.
Agents and courses have been carefully selected.
“We then negotiated with these agents on the part of the price so students do not need to pay a lot.
Certification can both.
If international certification is needed, there will be different costs and if students are fine with SPPU certification, then the cost will be lower, “He added.
Karmkar says one reason why students don’t take certificate courses, especially at UG levels, is because many courses have unnecessary modules.
Students may only be interested in a small portion of him.
At UG level, the students jammed by so many things they did not want to take more courses, he added.
“We have analyzed this and therefore we have chosen very specifically, for the course of choosing students.
We work to see if a student can take several certificate courses and use credit that scores in its regular course too.
Many nitty-gritties need Worked and we are working on a credit transfer system to check whether the module and duration are enough for credit transfers.
We will discuss it on the academic council and write a plan and then decide about this.
We map everything before the academic council to understand which courses can run like this , which courses can only remain as a certificate course and are not used for credit transfers, “Karmalkar said.
Many of these courses are made by agents who need skilled workers.
“They need students who are smart in data analytics, machine learning etc.
But graduates who graduate with this degree only have theoretical knowledge.
They need people who are smart in the aspect of the application and therefore they offer such courses.
Even new courses are Introduced by us will focus on learning experience, “he said.
