22 student testing boarding school mum + ve for covid

Mumbai: 26 people including 15 minors from St.
Joseph’s school and an orphanage in Agripada in Byculla have tested Covid-19 positive.
Officials said that four children from 15 minors were received for B.y.L.
NAIR in the area under child care while the rest is in the Covid BMC Richardson and Crudas Covid center.

Assistant Commissioner City E Ward Manish Walunju said that on August 23, at first, four of the institutions were tested positive at local pharmacies.
“Therefore we proactively arranged for a camp on August 24, 95 people within the premise at which 22 was tested positive.
Campus, for now, has been sealed and marked as a detention zone,” Walunju said.
BMC has a protocol from the sealing place where more than five positive covid patients have been found for 14 days.
Of the 22 positive cases, four children who were treated at Nair Hospital while 11 were among the age group 12-18 years.

Byculla Corporator Rais Shaikh said that in general, children from the orphanage did not step out.
“Therefore, the possibility of infection comes from outside.
BMC must watch CCTV and test those who might come from outside into the building regularly,” he said.
In Mumbai, several hostels run by Catholic schools have sent children home due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Hostel Agripada may have students who are orphans.
About 30 children from home for street children in Mumbai, recently tested positively.
They recovered within a week.
Except for several foreign schools, all educational institutions are closed in Mumbai since the locking March 2020.
