Kanpur: The 22-year-old ‘Chaat’ seller allegedly kidnapped and killed by four friends, who then dumped his body on the Pandu River and demanded a ransom from his family members.
The incident was reported from the Karrahi area under the boundaries of the Barra Police Station.
The police have arrested four friends of the victims and on the basis of instructions given by them launching a search operation on the Pandu River for fishing the died of the body.
Mahendra Dohre, a resident of Khiria Kandor in Datia District Madhya Pradesh, used to live with her brother-in-law Nandram in a rented house in the Karrahan area of Nai Basti City.
Both are used to get their livelihood by selling ‘chaat’ in the area.
Mahendra Surendra’s brother, who came from their place of origin on Saturday, alleged that at the end of the Sunday night, a young man from Jarauli and his three friends had visited their homes and took Mahendra with the pretext of sightseeing.
It was when his brother did not return home late at night, they launched a panic search, but was in vain.
On Sunday, around 11:30 a.m., their brother-in-law received a call on his cellphone.
The caller from the other party said that Mahendra had been kidnapped and demanded ransan Rs 2 Lakh Rupee from him because of his safe release.
After this, three back-to-back phone calls were made on his brother-in-law’s cellphone, and the caller asked him to set up and send money quickly.
However, feeling the problem, Brother-in-law Mahendra approached Barra police and told the police about his development.
Immediately after collecting important information, the police swung into the action and after tracing the number, managed to capture the caller and three friends.
Inspector Ajay Seth said that during interrogation, the defendant had claimed to throw their friend’s body after killing him to the Pandu River.
They also admit that they also demanded RS 2 lakh ransom from Brother-in-law Mahendra.
“For fishing the body from the deceased, the search continued with the help of divers on the Pandu River.”
