Chennai: The number of active cases in Tamil Nadu has fallen 60% in the past week.
At present, 41,699 patients underwent treatment for Covid-19 throughout the state.
The rapid recovery rate has helped drop the number of active cases.
8,229 recovered from viral diseases on Sunday.
In the last 24 hours, 11 people died of Covid-19, took the cumulative death toll in the state to 37,915.
All 11 patients have comorbidity.
New cases in the state continue to decline.
A total of 2,296 people were tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The positive test rate (TPR) for the State established 2.3%.
Chennai, with TPR 2.9% a little higher, has 461 new cases.
Among 6,554 active cases, only 700 people needed to be hospitalized at the Covid Hospital and a treatment center.
The remaining active case is in the house quarantine.
Coimbatore, who reports the second highest number of new cases (432) in the state, has 6% higher TPR.
Health Secretary of TN J Radhakrishnan said that even though the overall new case had diminished, the spread was slightly increased in several West and Central districts.
“However, this is being monitored in the control room at the Office of the Public Health Directorate (DH) in Chennai with an integrated disease surveillance program.
We check whether there is a decrease in the number of tests carried out and the possibility of a new cluster,” he said.
Tamil Nadu has so far managed to manage more than 9.8 doses of crore vaccines.
About 91% of the population that meets vaccine requirements have received the first dose and 71% fully vaccinated.
Health authorities say that even now there are some doubts among senior citizens (aged 60 years and over), who do not go to work and effort is being carried out to disgust this group of people.
