Kolkata: Covid infection in the Kolkata police has increased four times in three weeks.
While the count stood at six in Tritiya, it was 23 now.
Five new cases have been reported in three days.
Among those isolated is OC from the North Division and a senior officer of the intelligence unit.
While 22 is in a house isolation with mild symptoms, one hospitalized.
All are fully vaccinated.
While the challenges in maintaining distance and other covid protocols during Puja Durga – when the police must be hours – can be a reason for the increase in cases, the elderly calls for caution because the celebration season is not over.
The police were asked to isolate themselves if they displayed Covid symptoms and undergoing a test.
Covid SOP includes living in a separate barracks and ensure the physical distance from the complainant at the police station.
All police have been told to wear masks and use cleaners.
Those on duty on the road have been suggested to regularly use disinfectant surfaces.
