Thane: A total of 239 people were arrested recently in ‘united combing operations’ carried out by more than 2,000 police from various Thane City Police Departments.
The arrest accusations including 10 panting criminals from different rankings and 1,698 police were deployed for the operation, said Ashok Morale, the additional commissioner of the police (crime).
Of the total arrests, as many as 48 goons were arrested under narcotics law and psychotropic law, 1985 (NDPS ACT), while 32 others were accused of absconding which was desirable by the police.
Fifteen other people were arrested for having a knife and sword, and booked under Acts Act.
Senior police officers said a total of 161 registered cases.
Apart from that, a total of 1,292 traffic violators were also ordered where 81 was ordered to drive drunk while 119 automatic drivers were found without uniform.
A senior police officer told the Toi that the operation carried out this time did not only involve the crime branch but all the police zone, police station and traffic police from various regions, especially insulated places under their jurisdiction.
The police started a surprise search operation and arrested allegations not aware of the offer to examine the increasing criminal activity in the area.
The target area for the police is a bus stop, dilapidated buildings or dilapidated houses, abandoned vehicles, huts, shady hotels, lodges, dhabas and train stations, among others, who may be fathures for accused of this.
