Bengaluru: The initiative to search for the active case of the state government to detect tuberculosis infections among the people who restored Covid-19 and their household contacts have produced a total of 240 people testing TB.
Because covid and tuberculosis affected the lungs, testing TB people who restored Covid and their relatives began in Karnataka in August.
This initiative has caused initiation of early treatment in all these patients, which should be treated for long covid or left untreated, say the Department of Health’s authority.
If it is not detected, all 240 will potentially spread bacteria to others.
From them, 151 are people who restored covid and 89 infected household contacts.
They are all cases of pulmonary TB, infection does not spread to other parts of the body and no death.
However, most of them were tested positively showing no signs of TB, officials said.
Getting TB after recovering from Covid without symptoms is a worrying sign, said Dr.
Ramesh Reddy, Joint Director, Prevention of TB, Department of Welfare of the Family Welfare.
“The results are surprising for their patients and their families.
Most of these patients use steroids and have beaten lungs during their care period,” he added.
This survey also proves that TB cannot be seen among the people being restored with Covid, said Dr.
Reddy, adding that officials on land estimated more than 1% of Covid people to change positively to TB, while in fact it was less than 1 .
In accordance with the data accessed by TOI, more than 8 lakh people who restored Covid were played for TB, along with 26.6 lakh members of their household.
Three or four family members from each person who restored played.
The Department TB detection campaign began on August 16 among those who had tested positive Covid between January and June 2021.
Most of them were those who survived the second wave.
Although the prevalence of TB is among the people who restored covid compared to their relatives in accordance with state data, it was the opposite in several districts with the highest prevalence.
The highest number of TB cases during supervision is seen in Bengalaru City with 52 positive testing.
Twenty-five of them are people who are restored with Covid and 27 household contacts.
However, in Chitradurga, where 13 TB cases are detected, all those infected with Covid.
