New Delhi: The number of farmers who receive minimum support prices (MSP) for their wheat plants increased 240% in the past six years.
The Ministry of Finance told Lok Sabha on Tuesday that 49.16 lakh farmers received MSP for wheat during the current Rabbi marketing season (RMS) compared with almost 20.47 lakh farmers in 2016-17.
Likewise, around 1.28 rice farmers have received MSP during the ongoing Kharif (KMS) marketing season, which is 175% more than the number of famers that get guaranteed prices in 2015-16.
Data sent by the Ministry of Food showed that only 73.1 lakh rice received MSP during 2015-16.
The government’s submission at home to get an interest in remembering the dispensation of Narendra Modi has maintained that there is no question to eliminate MSP amid the ongoing farmer protest against three agricultural laws.
The law has been postponed by the Supreme Court.
Responding to other questions, service in his written reply has said that the government has so far built 230 cold chain projects throughout the state and 113 are under implementation to reduce the loss of post-harvest agricultural products.
It was said so far nearly 3.37 crore farmers had benefited from this.
