Religious: A total of 256 candidates are in a commotion for 69 seats Zilla Parisad in Ganjam Regency in the subsequent Pancrayat poll, scheduled to be held in five phases from February 16.
Ganjam Regency has the highest number of zilla parish seats in this country.
After the withdrawal and refusal of nominations, there were 256 candidates in the commotion for the Zilla Parishad seat, said an official.
The last date for nomination withdrawals is Tuesday.
While BJD and BJP have given candidates in all 69 seats, Congress is fighting in 67.
CPI and CPM each fight in six and three seats, there are 1563 candidates in Fray for Sarpanch and 1348 in Samiti members’ chairs.
The district has a total of 503 Panchayats, which is highest in the state.
In the last Pancrayat election was held in 2017, BJD has won 64 seats Zilla Parishad, while BJP has won 4 and the Congress of the TNN seat.
