264 villagers in Erode received ST certificates

Written by news2in

Erode: H Krishnanunni District collector submitted the Tribe Community Certificate (ST) scheduled to the villagers of Thalavadi and the surrounding village side by side with Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in the district of the night.
This is a long-delayed demand for villagers.
The villages accommodate people from the Cholagarkal, Uraligal and Lingayat community.
The villagers have made several representations of district administration for decades for their community certificates.
Collector Krishnanunni, who knows about this old demand, directs the Gobichettipalalayam (RDO) Division officer (RDO) Palanidivi and Thalavadi Tahsildar Umamaharan to look into this issue.
They then conducted an investigation with tribal people.
“During the investigation, they learned that there were no villagers who were given a community certificate for decades,” the collector said.
“RDO and Tahsildar also know that villagers are eligible to get a certificate.” Collectors visited Thalavadi on Sunday, interacting with the villagers of tribes and issued ST community certificates to 264 people.
The villagers said they had approached the district administration looking for community certificates for their ward since independence.
“For no reason, officials rejected our proposal,” said K Madayyan, one of the villagers.
“Without the ST community certificate, we cannot get government benefits, especially in education and for work.”
