Gurgaon: More than 26,000 children in the state have not gone to school, a survey conducted by the Ministry of Education after the second Covid wave has revealed.
Officials said door-to-door surveys were carried out through May, following direction from the center to all countries to find out how many children did not have access to formal education.
While some of these children never went to school, a large enough piece came out it seemed because of financial constraints during a pandemic.
Officials are still learning possible reasons.
While Gurgaon occupies a list of lists with 5,800 children outside of school, Faridabad is close to the second.
The area that forms the NCR industrial belt – REWARI, Manesar, Bahadurgarh and Sonepat – also finds above the list.
The report shows these regencies cumulatively contributed 4,700 children without access to education.
Panpat and Panchkula recorded around 2,000 and 1,200 children like that respectively.
Officials said the regions reported by most children who did not go to school had a substantial population of migrant workers, who had gone to their homes during a pandemic.
“According to our survey, Gurgaon and Faridabad have the largest number of children who are out of school.
They are followed by districts falling in the NCR industrial belt, such as Bahadurgarh, Rewari, and Manesar.

The Haryana government has begun the process of registering these children to school.
While those under seven years have been received directly to class 1 at the nearest government school, those aged 8 to 14 must undergo a six-month bridge course before being appointed in various classes from March next year.
The bridge course is expected to start from September.
For this, the Ministry of Education will prepare a peer group of around 25 students and give them training in the nearest elementary school.
These students will be trained by education volunteers (Siksha Mitras) identified by the department.
“Our idea is to mainstream these children and ensure that all children carry out their rights to education on principles and practices.
